Welcome to May at Babe’s aka PATIO SEASON!!! We’re so excited for you to see the work that’s been happening out on the (recently renamed) CourtYard. We’ll have it open (good weather pending) starting the second week of May, and will be throwing a big party in June to celebrate it being finished and beautiful! There’s an easter egg hidden in the background of the May calendar graphic that gives a clue at a big new feature that’s coming to the CourtYard 👀

MAY-JOR SPORTS MONTH (GET IT)
🏒 The PWHL is wrapping up their season (😭) and we want to bring all of the hockey fans back together for one last blowout! Thursday, May 7th we’re throwing a PWHL Playoff Party. Wear your best PWHL gear and come ready to cheer with other hockey fans!
🏀 It’s WNBA season and we’re playing every game (even when there are four at once…. Cathy we have some feedback). We’re bringing the stadium vibes to the bar with free hot dogs during Sky away games (with drink purchase).
🏉⚽️🏈 Our local pro soccer/(American) football/rugby teams are playing through the month and we’ll be streaming their matches - but encourage you to go in person for the home games! We’ll be working on a party bus for a Tempest rugby game, tell the bartenders if you’re interested and that will help us coordinate which match to choose.
EVENTS AND POP-UPS TO BE THERE OR BE SQUARE
🌮🍔 Our foodie friends are returning on Wednesdays, come hungry! We’ll have Taylor’s Tacos on the 6th, Mom’s is coming back on the 20th to grill more burgers on the patio after selling out their first pop-up in April, and Kite String Taquitos comes on the 27th!
👟 Out There run (and walk) club will be meeting up at Babe’s every Wednesday this summer! Learn more by checking out their instagram and RSVP for their first run on May 6th here!
💸 Friends of the Chicago Abortion Fund are hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, May 17th during the Sky game. There will be VIP tickets available to ensure you get a good seat to the game on the patio while supporting a great cause. Make sure you’re subscribed to our weekly updates to get more info!
💪 Our friends at Masc Meetup and Butch Social are joining forces for a patio takeover on Saturday the 30th - bring your carabiners and get ready to meet someone who can fix your car for you.

BREAKING NEWS: we’re starting a newspaper. We love physical media and want to capture Babe’s in print - and we want you to participate! And if you’re more into consuming physical media than creating it, mark your calendars for the publishing party to close out Pride month on the patio on June 27th.
I’ve had so much fun getting to show people sneak peeks of the patio during quiet moments at the bar, and really can’t wait for everyone to get to experience it once it’s complete. The friends of Babe’s who’ve led the project (as in literally built the benches and bar) are making an outdoor space that is just as beautiful and fun - and women’s sports-centered - as our indoor space. We’ll have it open as soon as the power tools aren’t in use out there anymore, which we promise is coming soon! In the meantime please stop in to check out our new menu (the spicy mezcal marg is already a new fan fav) and say hi, we’ll be glad to see you!
