September at Babe’s (we’re turning ONE!)
Happy SEPTEMBER!!!! We’re a little biased about how fun this month is going to be because it’s a big one for us - literally, we’re turning ONE. It feels like just yesterday we were packed wall to wall with all of our new friends during our grand opening party (feel free to relive that). Time flies when you’re having fun watching women’s sports!!!

🏐 Friday, Sept. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 6 we’re hosting our friends from SET the Bar Omaha, who are coming to town for the big college volleyball doubleheader at Wrigley. We’ll host a Huskers meetup on Friday at 5PM to watch their game against DePaul and will be the spot to meet up with others going to the matches on Sunday starting at 2 to combine ride shares and brave Wrigley together.
🎤 We’re having a WNBA TRIVIA NIGHT on Thursday the 10th! Come test your knowledge and learn something new from 7-9PM, hosted by Anna DeShawn and Shana Sumers. You can bring a team or play alone!
🎾 The US Open championship for women’s singles is Saturday the 12th and we’re going all in on tennis (to the best of our abilities…) for it. We’ll have a special menu with tennis-priced drinks all day (including a $15 two-for-one aka “doubles” special on our in-house version of the Honey Deuce….FUN) and MOST IMPORTANTLY we’ll have an open tab during the match, sponsored by Dove. One drink per person at a time and while supplies last - get there early to make sure you’re SAT for the SETS (I think that’s a tennis pun).
🥎 Pickup softball is happening on Sunday the 13th (so don’t drink too much during the US Open championship…). Only about 15 slots left, register here!
🏀 It’s the final day of the WNBA regular season on Thursday the 24th, which means it’s the last Sky game of the season (who needs playoffs, amiright). We’ll have all of the games on and be doing our last day of free hot dogs during away games, come be in community with other Sky fans who are now free agent fans for playoffs (and if you’re a Lynx fan come scan the QR code someone put on our community board for the Lynx Fans in Chicago WhatsApp group!)

It’s a little surreal to be approaching our anniversary and looking back at all we’ve done in the last year. We are so proud of the year we’ve had, and so thankful to all of you for your support. Truly!!! This little women’s sports bar is thriving because our community keeps showing up for us. We’re planning to celebrate all weekend and hope you’ll join us for some or all of it!
Friday the 25th we’ll be hosting a party for people who donated to our crowdfunding campaign way back when we were just an idea on a website. They helped us raise the initial $75,000 that got us started and we wouldn’t be here without them! If you’re one of those folks please watch your inbox for an email :)
Saturday the 26th we’re having what we’re calling “a one-year-old birthday party for adults” - think balloons and sprinkles on everything, tooth gems from Minty, and special surprises! Please come out and celebrate with us - you can buy a drink for the drink it forward board if you want to get us a gift 🎁
Our OFFICIAL official birthday is Sunday the 27th and we’re celebrating with a parade, naturally!! We’re calling it the “Women’s Sports Pride Parade” meaning it’s all about celebrating women’s sports and the community at Babe’s. We’ll be rolling through the Armitage County Fair at 2PM, get out to the route and get ready for some Babe’s throws!! The parade afterparty will be back at the bar, where we’ll watch the first games of the WNBA Playoffs (times TBA).
